Having secured a number of contracted project works at Colworth Science Park for Unilever we were able to introduce ourselves to the onsite engineering team. Through discussions and a number of meetings relating to the existing BMS installation it was clear that the site infrastructure that was made up of over 280 network devices was struggling to provide the performance, efficiency and reliability that Unilever required.
We recommended a service level agreement that met the client’s current budgetary commitments and would make a start on site to work through the list current problems. Only a few months into the agreement it was clear that the current time allowance did not allow for the correct level of planned preventative maintenance nor time to investigate and correct ongoing issues.
We carefully reviewed alongside Unilever and increased the site presence accordingly on both the service agreement and a reactive/ fault basis. We also targeted key areas and with scheduled life cycle controller replacements, network reduction schemes, an intensive energy review and implementation the performance of the BMS has since greatly improved. The BMS and ongoing works are regularly reviewed with the onsite team to ensure we continue to provide the service required to maintain a system of this size. Given the infrastructure there will also be room for improvement but in the short term Unilever now have a reliable and robust installation with a provider in AES Energy Services they know they can trust.
