As a trusted supplier for Bouygues UK we worked closely with the site team to upgrade the existing BMS installation that was installed approximately 12 years old in line with their lifecycle programme.
The existing Trend installation was primarily made up of IQ2 series controllers that operate on a propriety network (current Lan). This means that if any 1 controller was to fail it will take down the whole network of controllers on that LAN, this has the knock on effect of increased and wider spread downtime and makes fault finding the issue much harder, this can be labour intensive and expensive.
All existing controllers were replaced with the latest generation controllers. These operate on Ethernet which has allowed us to re-design the network to reduce the amount of controllers on a single LAN. This in turn had the positive effect of reduced fault finding time and resource, reduced operational risk and a reduced maintenance requirement. The use of an Ethernet network and web based controllers ensures future proofing of the BEMS for years to come. Utilising remote IO modules was a key part of the project not only to reduce cost but to reduce operational impact during installation.
The BMS strategy was re-written as part of this upgrade and was based on current energy efficient control philosophies thus dramatically reducing energy usage.
To complete the installation we installed a 3G router to allow offsite remote support for the facilities team and AES Bureau team to reduce potential call out costs in the future.
